With the arrival of COVID-19 for the first time in December 2019, it was hardly anticipated that it would spread widely enough to jeopardize most of the business industries of the world, including tourism.

The fact is not hidden that the closing of airlines, hotels, and international plus local travel restrictions has resulted in the downfall of the tourism industry of Pakistan.

Pakistan had topped the list of best holiday destinations for 2020 in December 2019 and the news came as a fresh breath of air for the shaky economy of our country. The tourism industry of Pakistan had started a drift towards advancement, all with the visit of the British royal couple and tons of foreign vloggers, travelers, and hikers and their visit to Pakistan in the last few years gave an edge to the tourism industry of Pakistan.

Fast forward to 2020 and it all came to a halt due to the sudden incursion of COVID. The tourism of Pakistan suffered critically in terms of incomes, profits, labor, and jobs. Layoffs in the tourism industry of Pakistan are estimated to take place which can cause a loss of around $20 million in the form of revenues. However, the positive impact can be considered for nature and wildlife to have a break from over-tourism and land pollution.

It can be hoped, with the decrease of COVID active cases nationwide, the local tourism can be revived soon to prevent the industry from further damage.
